Massachusett's going for a reban on cannabis
Before I go through this, I want to thank Shadd Dales at The Dales Report over at https://https://thedalesreport.com/

Prohibitionists are "on track" to get a ballot measure passed for the 2026 election to re prohibit cannabis.
While money is quoted as a major factor here, and it is, that's not the only issue I see here personally. The issue I think is much larger and it highlights the hypocrisy of a lot of people. When voting on cannabis itself, with the logic that is used, as in it creates more intoxicated drivers, alcohol should be on the list to ban as well. This causes major accidents normally with higher speeds than cannabis intoxication. Not saying that driving under the influence of ANYTHING is okay, just making comparisons.
Alcohol itself, can cause a death via alcohol poisoning. Cannabis cannot. Alcohol causes alcoholic rage with people, which we've seen in many western movies and in the past with real life accounts probably available of alcohol causing massive issues.
Cannabis causes issues for specific people, with specific predispositions, or a lack of care for safety of others. I'm not saying cannabis doesn't cause any issues, as it very much can. The issue is here as a public health issue, and shouldn't be a criminal issue. When someone gets arrested for cannabis possession when they shouldn't be in possession, this causes them to lose a lot of things, including job opportunities, housing choices among other things because of outdated laws.
I am obviously very pro cannabis, as I see it as a personal right to choose what you ingest in your own home as long as it does not hurt anyone else and is on your own time, while not being paid to fulfill duties that are safety sensitive. Although, the argument that cannabis should be banned because it causes less overall issues than alcohol, and alcohol is not also going for a ban, shows a favoritism for one or the other, or just blatant hypocrisy.
The bottom line is alcohol is more deadly overall than cannabis has ever been, due to both indirect and direct causes, thus if ones illegal, they both should be illegal.
